Founded on beliefs that every woman can express her inner confidence and beauty, we design and create handmade unique pieces of jewellery using the ancient technique of wire wrapping.
Black and Sigi was born from the idea of two sisters, Clio and Athena, and their passion to create beautiful and inspiring handmade pieces of jewellery that could be worn by every woman so she can express her inner confidence and beauty.
Each piece is made from our studio in Leigh on Sea, UK. We draw inspiration from all areas that make up who we are – from our Italian heritage to the people in our lives, each range is designed and created to reflect different loves and experiences, and aims to relate to every woman.
Our values are deeply rooted in our heritage, upbringing and culture. We are passionate about empowering women at any age and walks of life.
We put a heavy emphasis on collaborations and are passionate about supporting our local community in Leigh-on-Sea and beyond.
We believe in accessibility but never compromise on quality, style and design. Our wire wrapping technique allows us to be creative and innovative.
The wire wrap technique can be traced back to 1446 BC with evidence of elements of wire jewellery in ancient pharaohs’ tombs and pyramids in Egypt. The process involved using flattened sheets of metal which were cut into strips and rolled into tubes.
These days we use a 9ct gold plate and a 10% sterling silver filled wires for the main part of our designs. There is a slightly thicker plating on the silver, but this explains the reason why our prices are the same for both gold and silver. Majority of our designs will use plating, but occasionally we also use a gold filled and sterling silver. Designed and created to reflect different loves and experiences, and aims to relate to every woman.
