In this Human Spotlight series, we highlight the amazing people that are part of our BAS community. Today we’re chatting with Amy Adams from No Ordinary Space. Amy is an interior stylist and designer whose designs are joyful, inviting and full of character. Her studio is based in Essex and her services cover local area, London and beyond. We love her style and what she does…
Introduce yourself, what you do?
I am an Interior Stylist/Designer, I work on both residential and commercial spaces. I provide interior’s consultancy, should you need help with choosing paint colours, soft furnishings, room layouts or need a bit of guidance. I also offer full service interior design packages to suit a variety of budgets.
I graduated with a degree in Fashion and went onto work as a Fashion Stylist. The knowledge and experience gained throughout this time was invaluable and has translated to all my interior projects, giving me a lot of confidence to work with colours, pattern and print. I turned my creative eye to interiors, around 15 years ago managing all elements of interior design for my husband’s property development business, alongside renovating 4 of our own homes.
Around 5 years ago when the last of my children started at school, I started taking on private clients, working with businesses and home owners on commercial and residential projects.
I have always been very creative and am constantly inspired by the colourful world we live in. Getting out and about and soaking up my surroundings is the biggest inspiration to me, whether that be when travelling abroad or in London where there’s so much creativity on offer at exhibitions, restaurants, street markets, bars and hotels. I also attend all the big design fairs in London as these are full of inspiration.
How did you collaborate with BAS?
I was approached to edit their interior EDIT in the BAS LIFE magazine, which was so fun to do.
Describe your style in 3 words!
I would describe both my interior and personal style as playful and colourful, with a mix of both vintage and modern pieces.
What’s your most treasure jewellery piece?
My most treasured piece of jewellery is my Mum’s gold cross that I have had on almost everyday since she died nearly 2 years ago.
What’s your fave BAS jewellery?
I have chosen some earrings from the Rhea range as these are bold, fun and make a real statement.
