Our Immortal collection is the go-to classic, timeless collection, and the base which you can layer and style our Black & Sigi or your own jewellery with.
Recently, with the help of our team and trusted friends, we updated it with the Warrior Goddess shoot. Here, Clio, the co-founder and creative director of Black & Sigi, tells the story behind it….
1. What was the styling concept / art direction behind the Warrior Goddess shoot?
The Immortal collection is designed around all the different personas women take on at some point in their lives, told through the stories of the goddess in mythology. The idea for the shoot was to represent the collection as Strong and Soft ~ the softness of women by creating a whimsical backdrop using loose and pretty dresses and bringing in the strength through the emotive model poses and strong stacking of our Immortal collection pieces while exploring the styling methods and representing all of this in one.
2. Were did you draw inspiration from?
We were inspired by mythological storytelling and the characters in it. All the strong women in these stories represent someone in modern day.
3. Who did you work with on this campaign?
The team for the shoot was a perfect representation of the whole idea of the Warrior Goddess concept.
The styling expertise by Bex Hyde brought the brief of the Warrior Goddess to life. She gets the feminist ideals by representing women as strong and sexy at the same time. As a result, we also got her involved in front of the camera.
Our photographer Mia Davies, who battles with breast cancer and journey to recovery, in my eyes, is the strongest of us all! Her natural photography was the perfect style to the whimsical look we wanted achieve.
Briony, who did the MUA, is an expert in her field and fulfilled the brief of natural but strong make-up and hair. She used plums and gold metallics to encapsulate the vision on Ana and Aimee, our models. Opposite in looks, but both represented the modern goddesses perfectly.
4. How did you decide on the direction of the shoot? Were you led by the Immortal collection pieces or did you start with the brief and styling concept first?
We started with the brief first and worked on styling from there. Bex’s styling then used different combination of heavy stacks in all areas to showcase each piece to the most potential and statement.
5. Your favourite shot or product?
I can’t decide, I have lots of faves!!!
